Class of 2020 Year-End Activities and Commencement

Congratulations, Class 0f 2020!

After 13 years of effort, achievement, and contributions to Neshannock Township School District, the time has come for you to walk across the stage for your big moment!  As promised, we will be honoring our graduates in the way they deserve to be honored. Given Governor Wolf’s recent “green phase” guidelines, we have made some modifications to our previously published commencement plans.  Please review the updated procedures that are to be followed on June 4, 2020:

Senior Activities: Plans and Procedures for Graduates and Their Guests

Updated, 5-28-2020

Senior Activities

Neshannock Township School District is pleased to announce plans to honor and celebrate the Class of 2020.  After careful thought and consideration, our dedicated planning committee believes these procedures, which will include both in-person and virtual components, will not only honor our students in the way they deserve to be honored, but also maintain the safety of all involved.

Senior Scholarship Night
May 27, 2020 • 5:00pm

The ceremony will take place at Neshannock High School in accordance with social distancing regulations.  Students who receive community and foundation scholarships will receive their scholarships and certificates at this time.  Each scholarship will be individually presented to students, at a scheduled time, with as many as four family members present.  All students’ post-secondary plans will be recognized virtually, as well.  This ceremony will be recorded and available for public viewing on both the District website and social media outlets.

Baccalaureate
June 3, 2020 • 6:45pm

Baccalaureate will be pre-recorded and available to those who wish to experience this ceremony.   Led by Reverend Bryan Warner of Wayside Emmanuel Church, this service is coordinated by clergy representing places of worship within the boundaries of Neshannock Township.  A blessing via Zoom video conferencing will be offered to Seniors who choose to participate.  Seniors in attendance are encouraged to don caps and gowns.  The ceremony will be shared as a video for public viewing on both the District website and social media outlets.

Commencement
June 4, 2020 • 7:00pm

Our 61st Commencement and diploma conferral will be an in-person ceremony held in accordance with social distancing regulations.  Diploma conferral will take place in the auditorium at Neshannock High School, and portions of the ceremony will be pre-recorded, including the valedictorian and salutatorian’s address.  Each graduate may have as many as five family members present.  Distinguished Alumnus Lt. Col. (Ret.) Jeffrey Flading, Class of 1973, will be providing a pre-recorded commencement address for the Class of 2020.

Beginning at 7:00pm on June 4th, the diploma conferral ceremony will be livestreamed on the District Facebook page (@neshtsd) for all to view.  The traditional commencement ceremony, in its entirety, will be recorded, edited, and made available for public viewing on both the District website and social media outlets as soon as our technology team can finalize the video.

Photographers will be on campus to capture the momentous occasion for our students and their families.
