We have been carefully (obsessively) watching the weather forecast with the hope of hosting an outdoor Commencement ceremony this evening. Unfortunately, the forecast continues to call for scattered thunderstorms, showers, and high humidity. For these reasons, we have made the decision to host the ceremony to our auditorium.
Graduates are to arrive to the high school gymnasium, no later than 6:15 pm, in their caps and gowns. Since Commencement is a formal event, the following attire is appropriate under the gown: dress slacks, dress shirt, a tie/bow tie, and/or a dress. Commencement will begin at 7:30 pm.
Graduates will be seated together in the front of the auditorium. Guests, up to four, will be seated in the chairs assigned on their tickets. Two additional tickets will be issued, per graduate, at the door. These additional two seats have been assigned at random. This will allow each graduate to have up to six guests.
March of the Graduates:
- If weather permits, the graduates will recess from the auditorium, exit the building at the east end of the high school (closest to Spiker Lane), and march along the front sidewalk of the high school. We encourage guests to greet graduates with celebratory clapping and cheers along the route. Graduates will then proceed into the building (near the choir room) for the tossing of the caps and group photo in the gymnasium.
- If the weather does not cooperate for the March of the Graduates, the graduates will recess from the auditorium and proceed to the gymnasium for the tossing of the caps and group photo. The faculty will line the hallway to cheer for the graduates as the parents proceed directly to the gymnasium.
Graduate Photos:
All graduates and their guests are welcome to have their pictures taken prior to the Commencement ceremony tonight. Laura Ruppersberger will be stationed in the high school gymnasium. She will begin taking pictures at 5:45 pm. All photo orders must be submitted by Thursday, June 10. Any questions regarding photography should be directed to Laura at 724-651-4598.
