NTSD Returns to Original Reopening Plan

November 10, 2021 • 8:00 pm

Earlier this afternoon, Commonwealth Court Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon ruled to overturn the Order of the Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health on Face Coverings in Public School Entities.  The District responded accordingly and notified stakeholders that masking while indoors at school was optional and no longer required.

Within hours of the decision, Judge Cannon’s ruling was placed on hold as an appeal was filed to the state Supreme Court.  As a result, the Order remains in effect and masks continue to be required while indoors in public school entities pending proceedings before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

We appreciate your continued patience and support in this matter.

Effective immediately, Neshannock Township School District will return to operations under the original reopening plan. Masks or other face coverings are optional and no longer required.

This is a result of Commonwealth Court Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon’s decision to overturn the Order of the Acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health on Face Coverings in Public School Entities on November 10, 2021.

Should there be any changes that modify the overturning of the Order, the District will notify all stakeholders accordingly.
