A Message from the Junior High School Principal

Welcome students, staff, and parents to the 2019-2020 school year. As your new junior high principal, I look forward to an exciting year in the Neshannock Junior High School. I will continue to nurture our commitment to providing a caring and academically challenging environment while enabling our students to develop 21st-century skills. Moreover, I am extremely proud of our extraordinary record of student achievement and opportunities for participation in extracurricular activities.

This past school year, we piloted a new positive behavior program, the Be R.E.D. program, encompassing grades 6-8. The program focused on being responsible, engaged, and dependable in all settings within the school day. The Be R.E.D. program could not have been successful without the support of the Neshannock faculty, staff, administration, parents, and community.

Furthermore, this past spring we celebrated the third redesignation of being named a School to Watch (also known as a Don Eichorn School) by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform. The forum commended our junior high school for its dedicated and ambitious staff that ensures that all students learn lifelong skills; and students who are respectful and courteous and share an authentic voice in the operation of the school. Our school was also commended for its transition programs, one-to-one initiative, creation of a Makerspace program, a strong reading and writing across the curriculum program, and a wide variety of academic supports. We are proud to join 40 schools in Pennsylvania and 465 nationally as part of the STW excellence. The School to Watch designation would not have been possible without a strong partnership with our parents and community.

I appreciate your involvement, support, and guidance in helping to make all of our students successful. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Mrs. Alicia Measel
Junior High Principal
