The “Return to School” survey response time has closed; however, the “Reopening 2020: Learning Options and Transportation” parent response form is still open and accepting responses. This form is for parents and caregivers of students entering grades K-12 at NTSD for the 2020-2021 school year. Plans for a safe and healthy return to school are underway for Neshannock Township School District students, faculty, and staff. While the nature of Pennsylvania schools reopening remains rather unknown, it is crucial that we take a proactive approach in planning for a variety of scenarios.
A committee comprised of stakeholders in the District – parents, administrators, teachers, staff members, community representatives, and medical experts – are leading the charge. Stakeholders, such as medical personnel and community members, will be discussing school in general, transportation, lunch, arrival/dismissal, etc. Teachers will be leading the discussion on instructional adjustments. The committee will not only take into account the necessary health and safety guidelines while planning, but also the voices of our students’ parents and caregivers.
It is important for parents and caregivers to know and understand that the committee’s process is focused on planning for adaptations, modifications, and adjustments. A flawless plan is not feasible at this time as it will be impossible to predict what exactly the coming months will look like for our school district.
Neshannock Township School District is committed to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of our entire school community. We will continue to follow the guidance and requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Office of the Governor, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
