The Neshannock High School auditorium was overflowing with friends, family, faculty, and thirteen years of memories on the evening of June 7, 2022, for 63rd annual commencement ceremony. The Neshannock Band played the traditional Pomp and Circumstance as our graduates processed down the aisles of the auditorium.
High School Principal, Mr. Luca Passarelli, welcomed the guests of honor and all in attendance to the memorable evening prior to introducing the distinguished alumna, Ms. Stacy Barnes, Class of 1999, who provided the alumni address. Stacy is an Emergency Management Coordinator for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). She has over fifteen years of experience spanning emergency management, crisis communications, community outreach and engagement, and aviation. Stacy is a recognized leader in her field, and is an active contributor to several professional organizations and committees. During her address, Stacy shared nuggets of wisdom with the Class of 2022 based on her own personal and professional experiences. Students were encouraged to embrace the journey as their path to a fulfilling life will likely include a few detours. They were also reminded to ask for help, build positive relationships with others, remain true to themselves, see the world, and give back to their community.
Following Stacy Barnes’ address of the graduates, Salutatorian, Maya Mrozek, and Valedictorian, Neleh Nogay, engaged the Class of 2022 with personalized messages, a walk down memory lane, and hopes for future successes. District Superintendent, Dr. Terence P. Meehan, offered the graduates congratulatory words and expressed the honor of being the newest members of the distinguished Lancer Alumni Community prior to accepting the class and certifying their graduation.
Following the conferring of their diplomas, the graduates ceremoniously shifted their tassels to signify their status as alumni. The celebration continued in the high school gymnasium where the graduates tossed their caps high into the air! Then, per tradition, an all-alumni photograph was taken. It was inspirational to see so many generations of Lancers in one photograph!
Many hands worked together to honor our graduates. Special thanks to the Board of Education, Administration, faculty, staff, and student government.
Congratulations and Best Wishes to the Class of 2022!
Laura Ruppersberger will be delivering pre-ordered commencement photos to the high school office. We will post on the District’s Facebook page to notify families when that time comes. Questions about those pictures should go directly to Laura at 724-651-4958.
